The QFHS offers three classes of membership: Individual - regular membership, with rights to vote and hold office. Family - Two persons, living at the same address, with the rights noted above, except they receive only one copy of our journal, Connections. Institutional - for libraries and other organizations, and does not include the right to vote, or to hold office. To apply for membership, or to renew, please complete and submit the Membership Form. At the same time, please take a few minutes to complete and submit the Information Form. This will assist us in planning the future needs of the Library, and the Society. We also need volunteers to keep the society going. On Line Membership Application Form On Line Membership Renewal Form Our membership year is from AUGUST 1 to JULY 31. All memberships received prior to, and up to May 31, will apply to the current membership year. Memberships received after May 31, will apply to the next membership year. Late memberships will receive back issues of Connections , i.e. all issues for the year. PLEASE, anytime you change your address, phone number, or change/obtain an email address, let us know by using this form.

• The opportunity to meet regularly with other Society members to discuss and get help in solving research problems.
• Use of our library.
• Four copies per year of Connections with articles, book reviews, notes on sources, etc..
• Name queries in Connections.
• Participation in workshops, visits to archives, libraries and museums.
• Use of the microfilm and CD collection, in our library. You can request microfilm, through Inter-Library Loan from other sources such as the National Archives of Canada, or the American Genealogical Lending Library. (Requests must be viewed in our library.)
• Use of our International Genealogical Index (I.G.I.) and other material on microfiche.
• Guidance in your research
• Tax deduction receipts for donations.

The operations of the society (the various committees, the library and the librarians, courses and excursions, paid research, mailing, etc.) are all carried out by volunteers who give of their time to make sure the society can continue to provide services to genealogists around Montreal and elsewhere.

From time to time we have a special need for volunteers, some for short term and some for longer term help. If you might be able to help, please check our volunteer page.

As a Charitable organization, tax receipts are issued for donations, and certain other chargeable services.
