| Description | The records of Christ Church (Anglican) in Sorel are a wonderful example of the problems which face people tracing their early English-speaking Protestant roots in Quebec. These records include not only entries for the Sorel region but for Montreal, Berthier, Drummondville, St. Armond, and even New York State. Part of the answer for this is the fact that Sorel lies at the mouth of the Richelieu River where it meets the St Lawrence River. It had waterway access to communities all along the St Lawrence River and south through Lake Champlain, to the interior of New York State. |
