POST-1899 BIRTH, MARRIAGE AND DEATH CERTIFICATES
Where can post-1899 birth, marriage and death certificates be obtained? The QFHS is able to conduct a search and provide microfilm copies of many records up to 1941. These records are available through the Fonds Drouin. Our research fee is $15.00 an hour.
ALL RECORDS AFTER 1941 must be obtained from the Etat Civil du Quebec If you wish a government certificate dating prior to 1941 apply to the Etat Civil. For more information see www.etatcivil.gouv.qc.ca/English/index.htm
MOUNT ROYAL CEMETERY
The headstones of Mount Royal Cemetery have not been transcribed. Nor does the QFHS have a copy of the records. To acquire information about a burial or copy of a record see www.mountroyalcem.com/en/cemetery (click on genealogical research) or Fax: 514-279-0049
SALLE GAGNON and the NATIONAL ARCHIVES of QUEBEC (ANQ)
The 'Salle Gagnon" of the Montreal Public Library has been closed since March 28, 2005. All research documentation is being transferrred to the Quebec Archives (Archives National du Quebec or ANQ). Until the transfer is completed, on or about April 12, 2005, the ANQ is also closed to the public. It is advised to call the ANQ to verify the opening date and the hours.
Currently (April 18, 2005) the hours are:
MONDAY - CLOSED
TUESDAY 10:00 - 17:00
WEDNESDAY 10:00 - 22:00
THURSDAY 10:00 - 22:00
FRIDAY 10:00 - 22:00
SATURDAY 10:00 -17:00
SUNDAY 10:00 -17:00
Note these could change without notice so check with the Archives, especially if you are coming from out of town.
