ALLARD, ?.   My gr. Gr. Grandfather arrived from France about ?, settled in St. Francis (assume Quebec Province). His son, Joseph ALLARD, born ?, married Mary GANELLE, also of St. Francis. Their son, Telesphore ALLARD (b. abt. 1834-36 in St. Francis) married Mary GANGRAW (B. 5 April 1839 in Montpelier, VT.) in 1854-55 in Montpelier, VT.

ANDERSON.   John and daughter Annie Edith ANDERSON b. 1863. Seeking information regarding marriage of John (a British soldier) and birth of Annie Edith. Both events took place in Lower Canada. The wife died in a fire sometime after 1863 and before 1881, when Annie Edith married in England.

ANDERSON. L.M. (Malcolm) known as "Andy" came from Luton (near London) to Edinburgh University where I first met him.   We served together in the Royal Artillery in WW2, after which Andy returned to Edinburgh to finish his degree, while I went to join Austin Motors at Longbridge, Birmingham.  Andy subsequently emigrated to Canada in the early 1950's where the last address I have for him is 36 Esmond Crescent, Rexdale, ON, prior to which he had been living in Toronto.  His wife's name was Audrey.  Any information on him or his family would be appreciated.

Grandfather, Damas BESSETTE and his brother, Franklin BESSETTE came from Canada.  Damas b. 1828, Franklin b. 1834.  Father Francois BESSETTE and Marie AUGER married 1 Feb. 1808 at Chateauguay, QC.  Francois married a second time to Isabelle GRENIER on 11 Oct. 1825 at St. Timothy, QC.  The brothers married sisters, Marcelline MARTIN and Lucy MARTIN, daughters of Augustin MARTIN and Lucie BOYER.  An Emily seems to be a sister.

From the St. Michel de Sherbrooke Church marriage record I have the following: Thomas BLAKE, widower of Bridget CRATY on 25 Oct. 1854 married Bridget HASSETT, d. of John HASSET and Ellen GORMENT. Daughters Mary, b. 1856 in Sherbrooke, Qc. and Ellen b. 1858 in N.B... Thomas listed as railroad labourer in 1881 N.B. census. When and where did Thomas BLAKE arrive in Quebec, how and why would they come to Sherbrooke in the early 1850's and why did they leave N.B. in 1858.

CAMERON,   Dougald. Born 1830 in Quebec, possibly a Catholic. Parents probably born in Scotland. Married Catherine McCORMICK, born 1833 in Ogdensburg, N.Y. Their sons, Edmund and John, were born in Quebec, possibly near a "St. Catherine." Family immigrated to Eau Claire, WI in Sept. 1861. Dougald worked 'on a boom' in lumber industry in Eau Claire.

CAMPBELL/SLY.  Information sought about Ralph A. CAMPBELL, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, married to Joan SLY, marriage date unknown.  In 1978 the CAMPBELLS were living at 32 Glen Road, Belleville, ON.    Joan's father was William SLY, a baker living in Toronto.  In the mid 1960's William and Janet (Foxcroft) SLY          sold their house in Toronto.  Joan SLY is the daughter who later married Ralph CAMPBELL.  Any information would be welcome.

CAREY.  Looking for information on CAREY family who settled in Ste-Sophie/St. Jerome area in the early 1800's.  Edward and Catherine KELLY seem to be parents to Edward Jr. and Mary Ann BAZZON; Patrick and Ann FLYNN; Patrick and Elizabeth MURPHY (who moved to USA c1855); John and Catherine RYAN (his first wife was Mary WALSH); and Mary CAREY who married John DUNN in Ste-Anne-de-Plaines in the 1830's.  Am specifically looking for where they come from in Ireland.

COMMON.   Four COMMON family photos, taken by Notman in Montreal about 1899: Ann COMMON née BORLAND (b. in County Tyrone, Ireland, about 1820, married John COMMON in Montreal, May 20, 1852); R. COMMON (probably Ann's son, Robert BARKER); Winnifred, daughter of Robert BARKER COMMON; W.J. COMMON (probably Ann's other son, William John); L. COMMON (may be W.J.'s wife, Elizabeth BREADON).

These are in my possession because one of my gr. grandmothers is Mary BORLAND, sister of Ann. I would be willing to give these to a COMMON descendant in return for reimbursement of postage and handling. Information about the person's relation to the family is required; it is important to me that they remain in the family.

COOPER/GRANTHAM.  Seek information on Alma and Bernadette COOPER (twin sisters) who married brothers Augustine (Austin) and Cecil GRANTHAM on 24 Sept. 1901 in the Quebec City area.  Austin and Cecil's parents were Thomas Henry GRANTHAM and Kate BUTTEME of Deschambault.   They emigrated from England and settled in Compton County in 1884 and Deschambault in 1893.

CROWLEY/MCMANUS.  James and Nancy (CROWLEY) MCMANUS lived in Huntingdon Co., Quebec c1830-1865.  Sons James and Thomas married sisters, Hannah and Mary BEATTY.  Daughter Hannah married Thomas JOHNSON.  James, Thomas and Hannah and families moved to Michigan late 1860's.  Looking for information on son, Hugh, and daughter, Rosy, who (according to tradition) married an O'GRADY and moved to Ohio.

Sarah CUMMINGS (1814-1891), Irish Protestants, Huntingdon Co.   The SPEARMANS emigrated from Tipperary 1830.   Father Simeon (d.1842), mother Margaret (d.1856).  Siblings:  Jane,? William, Simeon, John, Andrew, James, George.  Children of Benjamin: James T. and Margaret born 1835-37 (?), moved to Ontario (Adelaide?) before 1839 (?).  Siblings followed 1850 (?).  Any Quebec information appreciated, particularly CUMMINGS.

CYR, Marguerite.  Born late 1700's, m. Antoine BERERON, 6th Aug. 1811, Ste. Martin, Laval, QC. Canada. No mention of her parents in marriage registers. Their children were: Emelie (m. Laurent LACASSE), Jerome (m. Lisette GUIDON), and Francois (m. unknown). Marguerite married a second time to Francois PAGE, 17th Jan. 1843 in Ste. Scholastique, Deux Montagne. Again, I can find no mention of her parents. There are no children from this marriage listed. Any help finding out Marguerite's parents' names would be greatly appreciated.

DERUSHA (DEROCHER, DESROCHER). Francis born in Lower Canada c1805, and came to Uxbridge Townships, Ontario around 1830 when he married Mary Martha FAULKNER, b. 1811, in Lincolnshire, England, who arrived in Quebec with her family c1828 and from there travelled to Uxbridge Township.

DOBSON, Robert.  Arrived Quebec June 1862 from Yorkshire, U.K. with wife and five children, his parents (Robert and Rachel) and brothers (Peter and Isaac).  Stayed in Quebec for some years before moving to Upper Canada.  Parents and brothers moved in 1826 to Cobourgh, Upper Canada (Ont).  Want info about his activities in Quebec.

ELLEMENT, Joseph (artificer) stationed at Carleton Island (mouth of Lake Ontario) c1780.  Married Elizabeth Ann CHURCHWARD who resided in Quebec City while husband was stationed at Carleton Island.  They had twin sons baptized Quebec 22 Oct. 17800.  Any information on English soldiers and civilian stationed at Carleton Island c.1780 would be appreciated.

ELLER, Mary Ann, b. 1810 Quebec (no idea where).  She was married in York (Toronto) in 1823 to Allan GRAY in an Anglican Church.  Subsequently, they belonged to the Primitive Methodist Church.  She may have had a brother, Lancelot ELLER.  Does anyone know of any ELLERS or have any idea which area I should be researching?
