When: The library is normally open 6 days a week except during summer and holidays. Last minute changes to the schedule will be posted here. ( Please call before coming any distance, especially in bad weather, to be sure that the library wil be open. ) Where: To reach us by: Car    Public transportation    Mail, phone, e-mail Who: The QFHS is a non-profit organization governed by an elected board of directors and the heads of the various committees. What: The society has an office and library complete with thousands of books, collections of microfilm and microfiche, and access to close to 2 million records, all of genealogical interest. Access to close to 2 million records on-line in the QFHS Database, and access in the LIBRARY to 2 billion (or more from other subscription services). Why: Members of the QFHS believe in practising and promoting the study of genealogy and family history. Non-members are invited to use the library facilities, although each must pay a $10.00 daily fee .

• Monday to Friday, 10:00 - 15:00 hrs
• Saturday, CLOSED
• Sunday, 13:00 -16:00 hrs, (September to June)
• Wednesday evenings, 18:30 to 21:30 hrs, (September to June)
• Only the library is open Wednesday evening and on Sundays. (Office Closed)

Summer Schedule: (begins June 28th through September 7th)

Library will be CLOSED August 31 st to September 7 th Inclusive

• Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00 - 15:00 hrs
• Wednesday evenings, CLOSED
• Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, CLOSED

Holiday Schedules:

• CLOSED FRIDAY MAY Sunday May , Monday May - VICTORIA DAY
• Last Sunday afternoon open before summer hours - June 21th 2009
• Last Wednesday night open before summer hours - June 24th 2009
• CLOSED: JUNE - ST JEAN BAPTISTE
• CLOSED: JULY - CANADA DAY
• CLOSED: MONDAY SEPT - LABOUR DAY
• CLOSES: WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 23TH 2009 at 15:00 hrs,
• RE-OPENS MONDAY January 4rd 2010 at 10:00hrs - Christmas / New Year Holidays

Where are we?

The QFHS library and office are located at: 173 Cartier Ave., Suite 102 Pointe Claire, QC, Canada.   Please note that this is not the mailing address. The mailing address is below.



We are on the ground floor, but there are three steps, with a good handrail, to navigate.

How to get here,

To reach the QFHS Office and Library by public transportation:-

• From Montreal: Lionel Groulx Metro station, then take the 211 Bus (towards St. Anne de Bellevue)
• From Ste. Anne de Bellevue: 211 Bus (towards Lionel Groulx Metro)
• From Fairview Shopping Centre: 201 Bus
All these buses stop about 100 feet to the north from our entrance, in front of the CLSC.

And by car, just a few hundred feet south on Cartier (exit 49) from Highway 20. Good, free, 2 hour street parking is available. Unlimited time, free parking is also available behind our building, the entrance to this parking lot is off Salisbury Road.

Don't park in the CLSC lot across the street from our building, your car could be towed away.
