Co-Editor of Connections
Connections is the Quebec Family History Society’s print magazine. The primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Finding and bringing submissions of content to the journal,
- Finding and bringing advertising to the journal,
- Co-vetting submissions, and
- Together with fellow co-editor, deciding on direction, content and arrangement of the journal.
This position does not need experience in the world of magazine publishing - although this would obviously be an advantage. It needs someone with the ability to constantly “scan” the genealogical world, searching out possible sources of submissions to the journal. It needs someone with the ability to communicate with prospective authors, in order to elicit submissions. Advertising in the journal would help to reduce the burden of publication costs. The coeditor would search out and elicit possible sources of advertising. The co-editors would be in regular communication to ensure the final product has quality, readability and accuracy.
Thanks to many volunteers, the QFHS library is able to open five days a week and Wednesday evenings from September to June. During the summer, our library is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10 am to 3:00 pm and Sundays from 1-4.
We are always looking for duty librarians to maintain our opening hours.
1 definite day or evening per month
Hours: Tuesday to Friday 10:00 am -3:00 pm;
Wednesday evenings 6:30 - 9:30 pm; or
Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Greet members and visitors
Assist or guide members and visitors with their research
Answer the telephone
Check books and periodicals in and out
Read book shelves for misplaced books

Genealogy article writers
Our Connections editor is always looking for articles of genealogical interest to our members. For more information, contact Nicholas Barker at email@example.com
An editor is needed who is familiar with Word to edit a number of articles to improve their legibility and make them consistent in appearance. Not difficult, but time-consuming. Please contact: Deborah Waddell, webmaster, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 514-909-3066.
The bookstore assistant could help with any and all aspects of managing the bookstore: inventory, printing books, mailing out books, keeping the postage prices current, updating the books for sale on the website, applying for ISBNs, scanning printed books to pdf, editing books in pdf and so on... contact Deborah Waddell, outgoing bookstore manager at email@example.com or 514-909-3066.
